Focus group meetings in Brussels

In the week of 23 May, 5 species-specific focus group meetings were held in Brussels with as aim to discuss the content and the presentation of the final guides of good and best practice. Each of the focus groups focused on the draft guide for one species, namely for cattle, horses, pigs, poultry and sheep. Each group were composed of representatives with all stakeholders involved with animal transport such as transporters, veterinarians, breeders and animal welfare NGOs. A first rough draft of the Guides to Good and Best Practice was presented to the participants and they were all given the possibility to give input on the content and the final presentation of the Guides. These final Guides have to be ready by the end of 2016. In the next months, the consultation will continue with a second round of meetings planned in November 2016.
